"god sings!"

god decides he needs to get out and live a little.  he settles down in a dim but respectable bar &  lounge, and orders a few drinks alone at the end of the bar.  a lounge band plays not-too-loud background music- jazz, r&b, a little blues, a little swing - and this commands god's attention more and more.  with each subsequent drink he firms his resolve.  finally, he casts off his inhibitions, stands up and walk towards the stage.  being all powerful, and drunk, the stage and the lounge band is transformed as he approaches- their song is over and now the look up attentively as god closes in.  a spotlight appears on god as he takes his place at the microphone.  tonight's crowd is in for a treat.   god feels like singing, and he's not afraid to let it all out tonight.  the crowd whispers in anticipation, and shuffle to get a better look at the unfamiliar but irresistible man onstage.  he snaps his fingers and the band jumps in right on cue-

Yeah, yeah, scrod is great
Yeah, yeah, scrod is good

Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

With destiny.

"red star"

i saw a dim red star
while standing in my back yard
among the many white ones
on the vast black blankets of night

it was faint and unremarkable,
except for the color it shined.
could it be, just like me-
undistinguished, yet one of a kind?

concept album

"timmy and the never-ending slide"

(a prequel to all the timothy tierra saga?)

young boy timmy gets on a slide in the playground, and starts sliding, and in a flash of light he is transported to a different plane of existence, where the slide continues on for infinity, and he's stuck sliding down this slide for months and years until he painstakingly reinvents newton's laws in his head, in order to determine (without the aid of a pen or paper or a calculator) to coefficient for the force of fiction for the never-ending slide, and at the moment he arrives at the answer in his head- he is transported back to the middle of the slide... which is now dirty and rusted and surrounded by faded yellow "caution" tape and piles dried-out dead flowers and burned out candles with his own picture taped to the front. he sees the town is in disrepair and half deserted, as he runs home. his house is boarded up but the front door is busted open and swings in the breeze. he calls out for his family while running through the empty house. he gets to his room and open the door, to find his room exactly as he left it, but faded, dry and dim. he is short of breath from the stagnant, dead air that was sealed inside, but makes his way over to the mirror at his dresser, and wipes away the dust from the surface, revealing his image- a young man, faint stubble, forehead lines, and a scar below his eye...

lyrics

inside of us there is a part that is always crying;
who knows when it begins or why-
but it probably had something to do
with being ripped from the warmth of the womb.

lyrics

"the gentle wind, it greets your hair:
'how long have you been standing there?'
'four weeks six days and seven hours,
why waste this precious breath of ours?' "
