Abe Lincoln Eyes (by the IOD)
The moment I first met you
I fully opened up my eyes to this life
I was strung out, I was hung up on myself, girl
Walking down the highway in a crooked line
And then I hear the squeals of the brakes of your love
Pull up behind me like an angel from above
You didn’t judge me, you didn’t even know my name
And it was then that I knew that you’d love me just the same
But suddenly, I don’t feel so proud
Your touch ain’t the same, girl, but you won’t tell me out loud
And when in sit up in bed, screaming and crying in the night
I turn to see you and you look at me,
Yes you look at me –
With those Abe Lincoln Eyes
Now, I know we all got those things that make us unique
I got mine, you got yours girl, but I sometimes get the chills cuz you don’t speak
And when I wake up in the morning and sit down for a meal
You come lurching towards me, and all’s I can do is squeal
What happened to the woman who saved my soul when it was in the ground?
I was standin’ on the ledge, girl, I was lost, then I was found
But now suddenly things seem kinda strange, and now I understand why
Cuz you sit there lookin’ at me, lookin’ at me
Yes you look at me
With those Abe Lincoln Eyes
So I’ve decided to move on girl, I think we know it’s best for you and me
As I write this letter I’m feelin’ sad, but I’m finally happy to be free
And when I look at the stars, I wonder if you’re doing the same
And I thank God above for speakin’ to me, and to leave behind that pain
But then the stars start moving,
And they’re making these weird shapes
I’m a thousand miles away from you, girl, but suddenly I know I can’t escape
And just when I think I can live again
I just hang my head down and cry
Cuz you’re still there looking at me
Looking at me
Looking at me
…AHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
