"sunday"

you know on monday i come home,
can i see you?
i'll be home for a week
then i go back to school

the past few months i haven't know
quite what to do.
although i try to hide
my thoughts come back to you

(yeah) can we make plans?

you know on monday i come home,
can i see you?
i'll be home for a week
then i go back to school

(yeah) can we make plans?

(oh) then you said:
(that) monday's bad
tuesday's out
wensday you have your doubts
thursday's wrong
and friday's out
saturday's tough
but if you want...
sunday morn'
(i'll) meet you for
a little while
if you've got the time.
and i reply:
"alright"

"bury me in spring"

a song a bout a person on their death bed, and their last words are 'bury me in spring'. it is the winter in alaska or the yukon territories in canada, and the winter weather, not to mention the permafrost, makes it hard to dig new graves. there are some pre-dug graves from last summer, but she/he does not want to be buried just anywhere. she/he desires to be buried under a particular tree, or maybe next to a loved one. you can't dig new graves in the frozen ground, so you keep the bodies on ice until the spring. it's a ritual, many people are buried in may in this area. (i thought of the title while listening to an NPR story, which is the basis for this whole plot).

"Can't Wait to Be Understood"

So I stopped by your home -
Cuz I can't get you on the phone
And you're mother's telling me I'm up to no good

But all you had to do was call
And I don't really mind at all
Cuz you know I can't wait to be understood

Now when I look at you at school
You turn away like I'm a fool
And I get so tired of feeling so alone

And I hope you'll soon realize
And open up your cloudy eyes
When you see I can't wait to be understood

(bridge)

My faith is running out in beauty in this world
It truly mystifies
Oh, just a heavenly sign, a perfect rhyme will do
For me to know it's not just in my mind
And that there's been other times...

So you can push me away
And just like any other day
I'll come crawling back to you like you know I would

And I would like to say I've changed
But it will always be the same:
And you know I can't wait to be understood

"Learning to Love Again"

With the music of life
My soul is out of tune
And they call on me only
When silence fills the room

Stay the day and we can talk
About faith and hope
Carry on till' tomorrow
Wipe away the sorrow

(chorus)

I'm learning to love again
I'm learning to love again
And it makes no sense, it seems
The puppet won't rain down on me.

concept album

"the day of judgement is at hand,
jesus is in a shipping container in baltimore"

i wanted to just focus on the idea of jesus arriving in a shipping container.
would anyone open it? what if his shipping order was misfiled and he just sat in some truck yard, in a rusting container on the back of a tractor trailer with a broken axle?

maybe instead someone would pick it up mistakenly, and at a weighing station on I-70 the truck driver would pry it open and find jesus inside, and instantly jesus would baptize him as an apostle, and they would travel across the heartland of america, picking up do-gooder's and drifters alike, until they had all twelve, and outside of los angeles they would have a "last supper" in the trailer, with flour tortillas and ballantine beer in cans, and that night jesus would play a show in a dive-y club on the strip, and a girl named mary would be stage-diving and grab jesus and kiss him onstage. the next morning there would be an earthquake, causing a sea of oil to rise from the la brea tar pits, submerging the city and turning into a post-apocalyptic venice of sorts. and jesus would raise the exxon valdeez from the depths of the ocean, and he would ascend to the top, turn to face the burning screene, and swind his arms and clap his hands above his head to command the wind to extinguish the fires, and the wild rush of air would cause the oil to flow out of the city, dragging all of the sinners with scum it, and into the gaping hole in the ship- and jesus would seal the ship's hull shut with a flaming sword and sail triumphantly into the sunset, leaving the apostles on the shore behind, left to help try to make sense of it all.

concept album

"insomnia" (needs better title)

concept album: about one night of insomnia... tossing and turning, all the different things you do- think, all the various bed positions, getting up to get a glass of water or to turn off a leaky faucet, calling the cops about a barking dog, realizing that the hamster escaped from the cage and is chewing the cable tv wire behind the sofa, etc.
