"sittin' next to jesus"

a song about how jesus keeps sitting next to you on the bus. this makes you uncomfortable. your stop is like 2 or three before his. no matter where you sit- in back, in front, next to someone, alone, even standing- a spot always opens up next to you by the time he boards. so there he is again. you don't say anything, you're trying to avoid talking to him or making eye contact. in an attempt to negate the uncomfortable silence, you will look at your cell phone and think about calling to check your voicemail - but you're not getting any reception. you stare out at traffic and try not to pay attention to him, but you see the reflection of his stigmata in the window.
