song title / lyrics

"the day it started to thunder"

before it ever thundered,
before it ever rained,
god kept the stormclouds captive,
imprisoned them in chains

their misty wrists were rusting
the iron shakles' claws
their wind shear teeth were grawing
their ravaged stratus paws

but god would keep them waiting
until his work was done,
until he'd fully fashioned
the earth, the moon, and sun

that fateful day the rattling
of whithered chains grew loud
as god approached the pinfold
to free the first stormclouds

he smashed the chains to dust
with a squinting of his eye
unleashed the cloud upon the world,
darkening the sky

they stretched their gaseous arms
and cracked their cirrus bones
and bellowed joyously
in whipping, windy tones

rapt with newfound freedom
wrapped in vigin air
their song became a storm
thier whisp became a flare

in anger, barking thunder,
shrieking, spitting rain,
and crying bolts of lightning
the clouds unleashed their pain

of eons spent in bondage
but ended on this day
when god unleashed his scion
this christ, in white and grey
