...about a lonely, shy, underemployed Ph.D., a little disturbed, who spends many nights, all night on a bus, circling around the city, staying on the bus through the whole route over and over as people get off and on... and all the while just sits and reads a worn-out old paperback dictionary, quietly whispering each entry, and intermittently looking up and out the window to see the world go by... lulled by the hum of the motor, the comforting feeling of more-or-less constant motion, the comfortable seat towards the back with a good view of everyone going in and out, and the odd contentment brought on by the anonymous comings and goings of strangers...
